Antisana is a majestic volcano on the western mountain range of the Andes. Mirroring the volcano we find the Mica lagoon, where part of the water of Quito comes from. There are several rivers that are born within the reserve which then slide through the western slopes and feed the rivers Coca and Napo in the Amazon region.
Today you will be met by our guide early in the morning for a drive of about 60 km east of Quito along the valleys of the Andes. In this area you will find the magnificent, Antisana volcano (5.752m – 18.871ft above sea level), considered one of the highest mountains in Ecuador and a condor sanctuary! You will have an opportunity to take short hikes and learn about the flora and fauna of the Paramo. Also, depending on the weather conditions, you will be able to see condors, and many other birds. Lunch is provided in a local hacienda in this beautiful ecosystem and then you will return to Quito in the afternoon.
